Midweek Portrait Gallery

Badami cave temples in Karnataka / India. This beautiful carved couple forms a pillar frieze and is positioned at one of the entrances to one of the cave temples. I like the tenderness in this sculpture and admire the craftsmanship. This work was done in the late 6th to 7th centuries!

They do seem to be a little surprise after all this years.

Part of the cave temples in Badami.

  1. Makes a mockery of some of the "old" buildings in Australia!

I can't imagine how much work things like this must have taken.

  2. Gorgeous statues. Truly spectacular.

  3. So very, very interesting. I love eavesdropping on your travels.

  4. Wow! This is amazing! Thanks for sharing and educating me with all of your travels!

  5. Thanks a lot for your kind comments. India is an amazing country with such a rich culture and history. Even a lifetime of traveling there and I would only scratch the surface.

  6. Wunderschön, die beiden zusammen ... und schon so lange.
