Our World Tuesday

I am not really afraid of flying ...but while in Kenya we had to take a small plane ( a really very small plane) ! And so good that we did it!

Kibera is the biggest slum in Nairobi, the largest in Africa and one of the largest in the world.Flying over it we could get a very good impression of its size.
A couple of years ago my son went there for some weeks to teach at a school, he was impressed how much strength and grace the people had despite the fact that they live under such utterly inhuman conditions.

We went to see villages in more remote areas. Seeing the Rift Valley from above.

Almost there....

...we did it!  This is the landing strip and the red soil of Africa.

  3. I love flying but the last time I was in such a small aircraft I was so travelsick. The turbulence was a little too much. What tremendous views though. Look forward to seeing the reason for the flight.

  6. Wow, that is some perspective on the extent of the poverty.

The red soil could be Australia - wrong shaped trees!

  11. Wonderful views Karen, felt like I was traveling along! The landscape is simply stunning. And the weather... the spectacular red sand makes it seem like it would be really hot (my naivety ;)

  12. Du kommst echt was rum, Karen! ;-)
