Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin

The Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin has its origin in the 17th century. At that time many French Protestants settled in this area. Two identical churches were erected: The German and the French Dome framing the
Concerthouse.
It is a magnificent square for watching people,  having lunch or a coffee .

Details of the French Dome in the evening sun.

Statue in front of the Concert Hall.

Friedrich von Schiller,  a friend of Goethe,  a writer, a historian and philosopher is overlooking the square. He  seems to be unfazed by the modern times.
