World on Tuesday " Le Corbusier "

Le Corbusier was a well known designer, architect, painter and a pioneer of the modern architecture.Born in Switzerland he planned and built houses and whole cities (Chandigarh in India).
In 1923 he built a small house near Vevey / Switzerland on the shore of the lake Geneva. Corbusier built it for his parents and his mother lived there for many years.

A wall which surrounds the garden with a built-in bench /table.

The house is small, just 16m x 4m .

The living room which opens into a bedroom and the windows which offer a magnificent view over the lake .

Door to the garden.

Detail of the kitchen...Corbusier probably never spent a lot of time in kitchens, they are always too small!

In the 1920`s  no showers in the guest room but a small basin nicely hidden behind a door.
