Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of seeing lemurs in their natural habitat. You can imagine my excitement when we spotted our first Verreaux Sifaka ( I must admit that I did not know the name before!). And I did not know that there are 97 different species of lemurs ....we managed to see 21 of them.
We spotted them in the South of Madagscar in the spiny forest but they also live in the rainforest.
The Ring Tailed Lemur
And below the White-footed sportive lemur
My favourite! Nocturnal and everything but sportive! Only to be found in the South of Madagascar. It is threatened by habitat loss due to charcoal production and agriculture.
The tree this little fellow is clinging to is a vegetation type known as the Madagascar spiny thicket which can be found in the southwest of the country.
Our World Tuesday
how can this little on sit on the spiky tree. Seems likd a bad choice. It was very interesting to see. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting. I would not know how to act seeing just ONE in real time. Your time paid off seeing so many....loved your image shares.
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos!
ReplyDeletethey have that distinctive tail. nice shots.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Their so lovely, great images.
ReplyDeleteOh, lucky you! Wonderful shots.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky! The lemurs are beautiful. They seem to be posing for you too. :)
ReplyDeleteLove these photos. Definitely going to put Madagascar on my list of places to visit.
ReplyDeleteMadagascar is a place I would love to visit and like you see lemurs in their natural state. Guess I will have to settle for seeing them at the local zoo though.
ReplyDeleteOMG they are so adorable. That's a pretty adventurous trip you took.
ReplyDeleteWow, welch ein Glück unnd schöne Fotos.
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots of the lemurs.
ReplyDeleteLemurs are such interesting looking creatures! Their fur looks really soft. That Madagascar spiny thicket really caught my eye. I find it amazing and equally so how the white-footed sportive lemur climbs it care-free. So wonderful you got a chance to see your lemurs for real and up-close!
ReplyDeleteThey really are adorable! Those eyes!
ReplyDeleteAnd the one carrying her baby on her back is just heart stopping beautiful, especially when you think of them as so endangered.
Ioana
