World on Tuesday

Baobab trees in the evening sun on a huge sisal plantation in the South of Madagascar.

Baobab trees can become up to 8oo years old and once covered a huge area in Madagascar. Forests were cleared to make space for agriculture.

  3. Baobab trees always remind me of The Little Prince, they really are magical trees. p.s. I've been dragging this January for some reason (must be all the grey and clouds in Paris, not to mention HB)... hope your 2015 is going well so far Karen! :)

  6. Very distinctive trees. A great pity many have been destroyed for agriculture but then people need to eat.

  10. Love the variety of your blog; one minute we're all happy John Lennon style, next we're in Magadascar admiring 800 year old baobab trees. Can't wait to see what we're doing next!
    Have a great week.
