The Reeperbahn in Hamburg
Once a well known red-light hang out for sailors the area became famous to the middle class in the 1960s when the Beatles performed here. That was before they became legendary.
Now it is turning into a more and more trendy and popular neighbourhood with galleries, restaurants, musicals and one of the oldest theatres in Hamburg - the St.Pauli Theater which opened its doors in 1841.
" Platzhirsch" as in top dog.
Many tourists.
The best " Currywurst " in town...according to my daughter.

Love that photo of the tourists taking photos.
ReplyDeleteA city I have not visited. Your photos make it look an interesting place to put on the list.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures! Yes, it looks like a very nice place to visit. However I'll skip the currywurst. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Hamburg is retaining it's arty edge from old.I love the funky architecture and the street art, blended with the old. I'm like Bill, not familiar with Hamburg, but looks like I should stop by for a currywurst one day!
ReplyDeleteWren x
Looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteA stroll on the Reeperbahn is a MUST when you're in Hamburg. As is eating a delicious Franzbroetchen. :)
