The purpose for our visit to Mumbai was not to look at sunsets and discovering magnificent shops but to bring books to a home for girls who witnessed violence, abuse ,were forced to beg etc. All of them were send there by court order. One house is dedicated to children with HIV.
A former laundry house which will ( hopefully) house the library one day.
Maybe this will be a vegetable plot one day.
Some plants are already waiting to be put into the soil.
This brought tears to my eyes Karen! What a wonderful thing you are doing!!
ReplyDeletebooks and pencils - yes, they have the power to change lifes ...
ReplyDeletewonderful project, but I have to admit that I loved your first Mumbai post, too.
Such a tremendous project. Many, many years ago I was a Peace Corps teacher in a primary school in the West Indies. Books and other school supplies were in short supply making both learning and teaching a challenge.
