Fastnacht in Winterthur / Switzerland, which dates back to the 15th and 16th century. In those days carnival parades from other communities would visit each other , were warmly welcomed and provided with food and drinks. With the Reformation this tradition was abandoned …but it lived on until today.
It took us quite some time to get all this out of my daughters hair!
Cool festival shots!
ReplyDeleteI hope to see in real some day.
These are marvelous pictures and your daughter's hair is beautiful ... you should have just left the confetti in and let them fall out on their own ... it is a nice effect :)
ReplyDeleteYour comment on my OWT is one that I have heard from all over the world ... everybody's winter or summer (depending on what part of the world you are in) seems to have been an extreme of some kind. I think Mother Nature is trying to warn us of what is to come if we don't get our acts together.
I loved this post ... my favorite is the polar bear cub :)

Some of the face painting is quite extravagant, this is very interesting!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots Karen! It's so great to see how enthusiastic a community gets during festival time... love all the costumes and glittery shapes in your daughter's hair!

ReplyDeleteSuperschöne Fotos, selbst wenn ich alles andere als ein Faschingfan bin ...
