Song-ography "Small Town" by John Mellenkamp

Well, I was born in a small town
And I live in a small town
Pro'ly die in a small town
Oh, those small communities

What a sad song ,I thought, about someone who never dared to spread his wings, who never dared to jump of the swing, stuck in a small life in a small place....
but then ...

"But my bed is in a small town
Oh, and that's good enough for me."

Finding happiness and being content in one's life that is more than just "good enough".

  4. Such a moving photo. It's beautiful and yet lonely - leaves me with mixed feelings which is just what the song does.

  6. Awesome shot of this weathered swing. Imagine all the stories it could tell of happy children swinging high!

  7. Fantastic image and you have touch on something I have drilled into each of my children - go out and explore. If you want to see what it is like to live somewhere, try it. Worst case - you don't like it and come home. Best case - you discover where you are happy - whether it is there or somewhere else - but dare.
