My Favourite Place at Lake Inle / Myanmar. A Post for Wandering Wren.

Indein Pagodas
On the western bank of the Inle Lake is a magical place with hundreds of ancient stupas most of which are overgrown with bushes. As the place is practically unprotected many Buddha images have been vandalised, heads are broken off and are sold to tourists. When we went the first time we were the only people visiting, a couple of months later it was already different. I hope that because of the increase of tourism some of the money will find its way into the protection of this unique place.
The place is connected with the lake by a narrow winding creek and it is wonderful to see buffaloes taking a bath, farmers on their rice paddies, people washing their clothes and themselves.

Evening over the lake.

  15. Liebe Karen,
